What is the PICP?
Professional Institute of Care Providers Ltd (“PICP” and “the Institute”) is a representative Institute for member organisations, set up to promote Standards and Best Practice in the industry. The PICP is made up of private Irish Home care companies and is recognised by the HSE as a representative body.
What is the purpose of setting up the PICP?
To provide an organisation for care Providers to advocate the protection, advancement, and promotion of standards within the sector of care for the elderly or other vulnerable adults.To encourage the best professional methods of conducting the business of its members. To apply, petition for, or promote in the republic of Ireland or elsewhere any Act of the Oireachtas or other legal measure or order with a view to the attainment of any of these objects.

Meetings
The PICP meets every third Thursday of the month. New items to be introduced to the Agenda should be submitted in good time before this meeting the presiding chairperson. Any new members proposing to join are invited along to the first half of a meeting where they can participate and meet the other members before they submit their application to join.
VAT on Home care
VAT exemption now applies to supplies of services closely related to medical care which are undertaken by or on behalf of the Health Service Executive or by home care providers duly recognised by that Executive. Under the Health Act 1970, homecare providers who charge for their services, whether or not they are providing those services on behalf of the HSE, are required to give notice in writing to the HSE of their own details as well as details of the persons to whom they are providing their services and the nature of such services.
Client Complaint Management
